November 2      LHAG General Meeting      John Combes - "Numbers and the Vastness of Space"
                                  John Combes presented "Numbers and the Vastness Of Space" in Presentation Hall (KS). Johns presentation
                         described and demonstrated using audience participation, how, by applying numbers to different scales and time
                         periods provides us with an easy way to understand and appreciate the vast unbelievable distances to the planets,
                         stars and galaxies.

October 5         LHAG General Meeting      Ron Olson "New Large Telescopes"     "Poster"
                         Ron's presentation described the next generation of large space and ground telescopes and their observing objectives.
                         Telescopes to be discussed included:
                                  -  500 Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope
                                  -  Giant Magellan Telescope
                                  -  James Webb Space Telescope
                                  -  30 Meter Telescope in Hawaii
                                  -  European Extremely Large Telescope
                                  -  Large Synoptic Survey Telescope

September 7      LHAG General Meeting      Morey Lewis - "Gravity, Does it Control the Universe?"
                          Morey's presentation covered the roles gravity plays in stars, planets and galaxies, and finally in the fate of the 
                          Universe. The talk began with the history of what we know about gravity and how it has affected almost everything
                          we see in the night sky both with the naked eye and through telescopes.

                          Members and many guests enjoyed viewing Mars, Saturn, the Moon, Stars and deep Sky Objects.

                         Sierra College Professor David Dunn
gave an excellent planetarium show and the presentation "My Life With   
                         Comets"

                         Members and guests enjoyed observing Mars, Jupiter, Stars and Deep Sky Objects through six telescopes operated
                         by TIG members

LHAG General Meeting      Ranny Eckstrom - "Citizen Science: Galaxy Zoo"
                       Ranny's presentation covered:
                       -  What is citizen science
                       -  What are some citizen science projects?
                       -  What is Galaxy Zoo?
                       -  How are galaxies classified?
                       -  Ranny also led the audience to do some classifications of current Galaxy Zoo images.

April 28         TIG      Hands-on Experience
                       This group focuses on all aspects of owning and using personal telescopes. This includes purchasing a telescope,
                       assistance on how to use one and learning the basics of finding objects in the night sky to make the viewing
                       experience more enjoyable.

                       This meeting was a "Hands-On Telescope Help" event. Members with telescopes were able to get assistance in setting
                       up, aligning, controlling and viewing with their telescopes. Experienced members were present to provide assistance.

LHAG General Meeting      "Exploring Mars: 50th Anniversary" by Anthony Oreglia
                      Anthony presented a survey of the key characteristics and major findings of past Mars Missions including many of the
                      stunning images obtained by the spacecraft. He also updated information on the most current missions - Curiosity
                      Rover, The Mars Orbiter, and MAVEN missions.

March 24      TIG      "Introduction to Astrophotography" by Ron Yelton
                      Ron walked us through a primer on CCD chips and cameras as well as all of the various steps required to process an 
                      astro image
